The Valley of figs climbing area has been developed single handedly by the German Archeologist Markus Gschwind. In the beginning, they had no contact with the other climbing groups and they followed a slightly different development style. Their five routes are longer than the routes in the other three areas and are generally climbed as two rope lengths. Since Markus has drilled all bolts by hand (!), the density of protection in the routes reminds one more of alpine tracks than of sport climbing lines. Nevertheless, the beautiful setting of the rock cliff in a region which is also popular for hiking, the slightly lower difficulties and the somewhat adventurous style of the climbs make a visit definitively worthwhile.
